Well a new trailer has been released for the upcoming documentary In The Shadow of the Moon. I am not really this infatuated with the moon but I gotta give props to the people who will probably be debunking all the theories that men didn’t land on the moon. I’ll just take the synopsis from Filmstalker, as not much you can say about a documentary
The documentary focuses on the Apollo missions which landed on the moon. There are interviews with the surviving astronauts, and also original NASA footage of the missions. The footage has been re-mastered and looks amazing. I will definitely be catching this one.

The New Ace Ventura has been revealed to us. Coming around the third time, the Ventura flick is not going to star the ever so funny Jim Carrey but instead, will be starring…Josh Flitter?!?! He starred in Licensed to Wed and Nancy Drew but I don’t know how in this lifetime he is gonna fill Carrey’s shoes.
I remember sitting down and watching Ace Ventura when I was younger and god damn I pissed myself the whole way through, the way Carrey pulled faces and owned the character was the funniest thing I ever seen. The over exaggeration of the smallest movements come to mind.
The movie has yet to have a title but it is going to be directed by David Mickey Evans (he directed Wilder Days, Beethovers 4th and 3rd and the Sandlot) and he will be directing the script which was written by Jeff Sank, Jason Heimberg and Justin Heimberg. Evans had the following to say about the movie, quoted from MovieHole
Well, basically my kids run my career, After the Final Season got picked up by Sony/Yari for theatrical release, I had a bunch of offers and scripts on my desk. I asked my 9, 11, and 15 year olds what they wanted me to do. And they said, “Dad, you’re doing Ace Ventura 3!. I don’t know if the fact that the film shoots in Orlando (Disney World, Universal Orlando, etc etc…) had anything to with their marching orders, but I suspect it did. Nonetheless, the challenge of trying to meet the expectation of a sequel to one of the funniest movies in the last 30 years appealed to me. Done deal. Cut. Print. Moving on! Done deal … plus I really wanted to work with Jim Robinson and David Robinson at Morgan Creek. The opportunity to cross paths with their brand of creative support is rare and I wasn’t about to pass that up.
Only thing I have to say is this is gonna suck. The second Ventura sucked ass, the first was hilarious. I dunno how somebody other than Carrey is gonna step up and play a legendary role when Carrey couldn’t even get the second one going.
So we all saw Casino Royale and loved it. But where were the funny bits? Pretty much non existent. Well Daniel Craig revealed that the next Bond, Bond 22 will have a new twist to it, it will be returning to it’s Roger Moore roots and be including a lot more humor.
Daniel Craig really wants to put a spin on the character and really show his own side to him. He wants it to be more of a softer side, less macho side to Bond, which sounds kinda stupid if you are asking me, but I doubt they will, so carry on
Craig had the following to say about the next Bond film where he will be starring alongside Giancarlo Giannini and be directed by Marc Foster.
They [the producers] just want more gags. The next one’s going to be a lot funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore style gags. They’re all great names – but that’s the thing, the Bond jokes will be flipped on their heads.
Sounds like he wants to be more of a Shawn Connery, are you trying to get the women Danny boy? Look here is what I think they should do, bring back Jaws. That is all they need, Bond can stay the same, just bring back Richard Kiel and those stainless steel teeth and you have comedy right there.
Weeeee, more Box Office numbers. This time Harry Potter is the one setting records, it has broken the opening day record for Wednesday and is placed fifth overall for any day taking in an amazing haul of $44.2 million in 4,181 cinemas.
Transformers is still going strong with $155.2 million from 7 days being open. Transformers is definitely living up to the hype, Michael Bay has done a tremendous job on the effects and the numbers are really showing up for his work put in.
Phoenix was another big player at the box office this weekend. Pulling in $42.5 million on it’s opening day. Warner Bros. are pipping the number to be a little higher than $100 million for the opening weekend of Phoenix, which is said to beat out there previous holder of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Some other titles which are opening up this weekend are Captivity (a Saw wannabe just without the seven deadly sins involved) which is only going to open up to 1,000 cinemas this weekend. Talk to Me (a movie about a criminal who turns to be a famous talk show radio host in the 60’s) which really goes under the radar and only opens to 33 cinemas. And finally the Interview opens in 7 cinemas in Gotham and L.A. and My Best Friend which opens in 3 cinemas in those cities
Those films must be pretty fucking shit. I mean all up 1053 cinemas which is like a quarter of Harry Potter, shamful, enjoy the weekend while it lasts and get out and see some of those shamful movies!
Well our friend from Catch me if you Can (I mention that movie cause I just saw it :p) if about to star as the legendary Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner. Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to play Hefner in his biopic. Sounds like awesome fun, I wonder if they are gonna show if Hef really does have sex slaves or not?
Apparently DiCaprio is a friend of Hefner and visits the Playboy LA Mansion regularly. I wonder if he gets a quickie while he’s there? Guess there is really nothing else to do huh? An unnamed source had the following to say about the movie
Leo thinks it would make a great movie and Hugh would love Leo to do it – on the condition that Hugh is alive to see it.
At 81 and according to some sources getting a root every day, I dunno how long he can hold on to the precious life he leads. Currently Brian Glazer is attached to the film and really wants to portray everything that is Hugh Hefner. Here is a quote from him
Hef came from a puritanical upbringing and reinvented himself to be the godfather of the sexual revolution. He also used his magazine to advocate civil rights and free speech. He broke all kinds of taboos, especially in sexuality. I want to show it all, from the First Amendment struggles to his first orgy to the stroke in the 1980s that almost killed him.
This won’t be the first time Leonardo DiCaprio has played a controversial real life figure. He has previously acted out Howard Hughes and Frank Abagnale Junior in The Aviator and Catch me if you Can respectively. I am a big fan of biographies and really liked Catch me if you can, more on a personal level than a critic.
