Spiderman 3 sets opening day record

Spider-Man vs. Sandman

Spider-Man 3 has set a record opening day since Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Spider-Man netted in $59 million on it’s opening day whilst Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest netted in $55.8 million.

Personally I think it was well deserved. Spider-Man was a great action movie, but the plot was absolutely terrible (as you can see I went to see it today :) ). In fact I don’t reckon a plot existed, Spider-Man fighting 3 villains around a city, whilst battling for love with his beloved MJ and trying to be friends with Pete.

Truly terrible plot, but I loved the action, so I dunno if it makes up for it, but the sandman was a great addition. I definitely take back the comment I made about Venom having his own movie because in that movie, Venom did jack shit. He really was just a guy with broken aspirations, kinda annoying if you ask me.

But good work to the guys over at Sony as opening day records are hard to come by now a days with all this piracy.
