New York

Well some New York filmmakers have recently been awarded $55,000 from The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. The winners will be announced within the month at each of the students respective schools. The videos will then be available on the Boards website after that.

Both undergraduate and graduate students were eligible to compete for the prizes, the Board said in a statement. Participating schools are Brooklyn College, City College, Columbia University, Hunter College, Ithaca College, New York University, School of Visual Arts, SUNY Purchase and Wesleyan University. Each school received $6,000 to be distributed to the top student films. In addition, the $1,000 Charlie Andrews Award for film history will be presented to a Wesleyan student.

It is great to see that The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures is giving respect to the younger filmmakers probably in hopes they will be the next Steven Spielberg or Peter Jackson. Hopefully we see these young filmmakers names around Hollywood in the next few years, good luck to them all :)
