Well this is some good and bad news to our ears. Nicholas Cage is set to play Al Capone in the new movie The Untouchables: Capone Rising, the prequel to the mob hit The Untouchables. He will be teaming up with Snake Eyes director Brian DePalma to work on the new movie.
MTV broke the news and had this to say
Principal photography on the high-profile flick will begin in October, some 21 years after its predecessor was filmed. No word yet on whether the temporary “Capone Rising” title will be scrapped, following the chilly reponse audiences gave to February’s “Hannibal Rising” prequel.
I think this is a very risky move. I was a major fan of the original Untouchables because De Niro played an awesome role as Capone, but Nicholas Cage to me doesn’t fit that mobster type of person. I am unsure if he can pull it off or not, hopefully they don’t wreck the movie by playing with it too much. But never the less, good luck to Cage and DePalma.
