It seems the news about comic book adaptations just keep coming and coming, apparently just after the Wolverine movie was announced the Magneto movie is just as alive, the movie is set to be directed by David Goyer, only difference with the X-Men movies is that Ian McKellen will not be staring in the movie as it is set in a younger time period than X-Men.
Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) has written the script and Fox has snapped it up and are going to begin production after Wolverine has finished itself. Who knows where they will get the original story from, as in the TV series of X-Men him and Professor Xavier were doctors when his village was burnt down and Magneto wanted revenge using his magnetic powers and Professor stopped him. Or maybe they will use the X-Men movie of where he was a Auschwitz survivor.
Personally I am super excited about this film and Wolverine as they are my favorite characters (second to Beast and Gambet although X-Men movies didn’t pick them up) so hopefully they can launch them quicker, although Ian McKellen would be the perfect Magneto, we can survive as a guy in his 20’s would look buffer and probably suit the role better.
