Last year when IMAX released “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” on there large screens around the world, it had a
good reaction. Much the same with 300, although that is a different story.
IMAX said Thursday they are going to try and recreate that with the new Harry Potter, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, by screening the last 20 minutes of it in 3D. They will use there famous (although proprietary) 3D to 2D conversion technology.
“The last 20 minutes in IMAX 3D will add a new element of excitement to the Harry Potter experience, making this a must-see for fans of all ages” Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Bros. Pictures International distribution chief, said in a statement.
According to IMAX certain segments of the last 20 minutes of Superman Returns was converted and required visual cues to get the audience to wear there glassed, which really brought the whole feel of the film down. They are hoping by converting the whole last 20 minutes of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” will help that loophole out.
